1.1.3. Create catalog from CSV file

To be able to conduct assignments/links you have to create a catalog from your CSV data at first.

In the first step you read in a CSV file.

  1. In the context menu of Workspace -> Catalogs -> Import catalog, click Import from CSV.

    [Note]Note

    You can create any number of CSV catalogs (from CSV files) and use them anytime.

    If you want to remove a catalog again, you will find the Remove catalog command in the context menu.

    (Only for server remote connection: The removal is first executed locally. As long as no commit has been executed, you can undo [Revert changes] the deletion with Undo changes [Revert changes]. If a commit has already been executed, use the Restore removed catalogs command).

  2. CSV file selection

    Select the desired CSV file by clicking on the Browse ... button.

    Determine the data type: Fixed column width or separated by comma for example

  3. Specify data encoding

    Specify the column separator and optionally a text separator.

  4. Column names

    If the first line of the CSV file contains column names, activate the checkbox under Column names can be found in the first line [First line contains column names].

  5. Document selection (optional)

    If the CSV file contains paths to geometries and preview images you can optionally choose the respective column name in the list field.

  6. Language and Identifier selection

    Determine the language and identifier. As the ident number is absolutely unique, please select this as the identifier.

    Finally, confirm by clicking on Start.

  7. If the import of the CSV file is successful you can see 100% in the progress bar and "Finished" is displayed.

    Close the dialog box.

  8. The CSV catalog that has just been imported is now displayed under Workspace -> Catalogs (in this example "help_data").

  9. Select Catalogs on the left and click on the Catalog Selection button....

    -> The Select options dialog box opens.

  10. Select "help_data" and confirm with OK.

    -> The data in the CSV file is read in.

  11. Under Unassigned Products, click on the number (here 25).

    -> The CSV data is now displayed.

  12. Optional: If you are not working locally, you can now commit your local changes.
