5.12.9.2. PCF: Carbon Footprint 1.0 [CNSELEK|5|12|1]

This classification attempts to calculate the CO² emissions caused during production, transportation and operation. In principle, this figure must be determined individually for each product instance. We describe here only the emissions of the product type (i.e. in particular the emissions from production). The associated classes are essentially taken from the ECLASS Advanced definitions and mapped 1-1 into the asset administration shell. The calculation of the carbon footprint can be carried out according to different accounting rules and therefore provide different results. A product can therefore contain several instances of the corresponding classes with different CO² values.

The corresponding data is modeled in our classification system as part of the classes CNSELEK|5|12|1|1 (Product Carbon Footprint Calculation; PCF) and CNSELEK|5|12|1|2 (Transport Footprint Calculation; TCF).

The following classification system is based on the carbon footprint classification introduced from ECLASS 13 onwards. The following figure provides a rough overview.

The product footprint (CNSELEK|5|12|1|1 ) has the following attributes for both the product itself (PCF) and transportation (TCF):

In principle, each instance of a product can be assigned a set of these attributes for each life cycle phase, which records all CO² contributions like a logbook and adds them up at the end, for example. In this sense, this classification can be seen as a kind of individual logbook.
