Overwrite project settings:
Refers to the setting in PARTproject under Edit project -> Render properties [Render attributes] -> Render material.
Without activation, the setting in PARTproject is used (if available).

IOR:
The "Index of Refraction" (calculation index) gives the "average" light refraction of the visible spectrum.

Roughness:
Large values create greater roughness, so that the light reflection is reduced.
Damping in cm [Attennuation in cm]:
Light absorption: the higher the value, the darker
Anisotropy:
Direction dependency of light refraction
Use your own material file [Use user material file]:
You can create your own material files in Maxwell Render and select them here. In this case, place a checkmark in the selection box and select the desired file using Browse ....

The file must be located under $CADENAS_DATA.
