7.13.2. Project types

7.13.2.1. Configuration and Template

When talking about assembly in general the Assembly Table Project is meant, because this is the most important assembly project type. Today this project type is used for standard assemblies in almost all CADENAS catalogs. The operation of this assembly type corresponds to that of single parts. Functions of single parts in the assembly are controlled in a common table.

However, we will also talk about the assembly project types Assembly configuration and Assembly template in this chapter, as the Assembly table project is assembled by means of the two other.

In all modules the different types are shown with distinctive icons in the index tree and possibly with a respective token in name.[104]

The following table explains, what is typical for each assembly type.

Assembly configuration Assembly template Assembly table project

Free configuration is possible in the docking windows Configurator and Assembly.

Template will be loaded with a certain row

Choice only in relation to the table as with single parts

No automatic generationAutomatic generationAutomatic generation + special choice via table
Knowledge of module "Configurator" is necessaryKnowledge of module "Configurator" is necessary

Knowledge of configurator interface is not necessary

-> Thus simple handling

[Note]Note

During project application, select clear project names:

*_asmcfg.prj => Assembly configuration ("_asmcfg" is automatically attached when saving)
*_asmtpl.prj => Assembly template ("_asmtpl" has to be manually attached when saving)
*_asmtab.prj => Assembly table project
