If the QA mode is active (PARTproject → Extras → Settings... [Preferences...] → General → Activate QA ), direct opening or creating of files in PARTdesigner is not allowed. Editing must be started via PARTproject. In QA mode, the menu items and buttons New, New table and Open remain inactive, or a corresponding message appears.

You can use the Open button or the File → Open menu command to create different file types open:

	Note
	The user interface is adjusted according to the opened file type.

	Note
	Only files corresponding to the set file format are displayed.

	Caution
	Save the current model/project before opening a new file.

The individual file formats

3D designer files (*.3db *.3gb) , *.dbs

Note
The table is generated on the basis of the variables [Variables] and values [Values] (designer variables) already created during geometry creation.
Attribute files (*.tab *.tac)

Note
* .tac files consist of an encrypted character string and can only be accessed if you have a corresponding license [License].
Design3D backup files (*.3bk)
Project files (*.prj)
When a project file is opened, the Geometry selection dialog box opens.
Based on the tab/tac file allocated to the project, all corresponding 3db/3gb files are displayed.

Select the desired geometry (*.3db/*.3gb) and confirm with OK.

When opening the project file both 3db and tab/tac file is started.
