Function: In the docking window Variable Manager, you can create new variables or change attribute values of existing variables.
Show / Hide
Via respective button in the Default toolbar or menu item in the View menu, you can show or hide the docking window Variable Manager.

Restore default view: Helpful, if many changes many positions of docking windows have been changed and the default view shall be restored.
You can move the docking window and adjust it in size. A detailed description on placing method can be found under Section 3.1.5.4, “Placing method for dockings ” in PARTsolutions - User manual.
View mode / Editing mode
The Variable Manager is divided in two main areas, once a tabular depiction of all variables with attributes and once the editing area.
You can display the attributes using the mode Attributes at the bottom or Attributes on the right .

In the editing area you can find the view modes Less (display of attributes Name and Equation) and More (all attributes).

Example: "Attributes at the bottom" with view mode "Less"

When you want to edit variable attributes, select the desired variable either in the characteristic attribute table or in the variable manager's table.
Sorting in Variable Manager ^[85]
When clicking in a column header, variables can be sorted by alphabet (forward and backward). In any column header, when clicking on the context menu command Restore native order, you can restore the native order.
Color code
The color code signalizes the save location. Details on this can be found under Section 7.8.9, “ Variable Manager - The individual parameters” -> item Save location.

All variables used anywhere in a project (regardless of whether PARTproject or PARTdesigner) have to exist in the Variable Manager! Otherwise a respective error message will arise during QA check (Test directory or Test project). Example: "Error in Short description, Variable TYP is not defined." Tip: When clicking on the table header of column Name all variables are sorted by name. Then you will recognize at a glance, if a certain variable is missing.
