7.9.3.7.7. Insert slotted hole

Depending on whether one or two reference points or a free click was used, the two windows Sketch history and Edit element show different input fields. The click sequence also plays a role.

This results in a total of four different options for defining a slotted hole:

3 free clicks to determine the length, angle and width of the slotted hole
1. Activate the tool slotted hole . [Insert slotted hole]
2. Determine the position of the first semicircle by clicking freely.
3. Determine the distance of the second semicircle to the first and the angle to the first point by clicking freely.

4. Determine the width of the slot with a free third click.
  Position of the second semicircle was selected
5. Adjust the individual parameters in the Edit element docking window.

6. Optionally, you can specify the definition of the outer length [Exterior Length]:
  - yes deactivated: The length specification refers to the distance between the centers of the two semicircles.
  - yes activated: The length specification refers to the outer length of the slotted hole.
1 reference point and 2 free clicks for length/angle and width
1. Determine a reference point for the center of the second semicircle.
2. Click on the Insert slotted hole tool.
3. Determine the center of the first semicircle by clicking freely.
4. Click on the reference point.
  -> Length and angle of the slot are now determined.
5. Determine the width of the slot by clicking freely.
6. In the Edit element docking window, you can now change the position of the freely selected point if required. The pivot point of the slot is the center of the second semicircle.
  -> Length and angle of the slot are changed.
  You can also adjust the width of the slotted hole.
Free click, reference point, free click
2 free clicks for length and angle and a reference point for width
1. Determine the reference point for the width of the slotted hole.
2. Click on the Insert slotted hole tool.
3. Click freely to select the center of the first semicircle.
4. Click freely to select the center of the second semicircle.
  -> Length and angle of the slot are now determined.
5. Click on the reference point.
  -> The width of the slot is now determined.
6. Optionally, you can specify the definition of the outer length [Exterior Length]:
  - yes deactivated: The length specification refers to the distance between the centers of the two semicircles.

1 free click for positioning the 1st semicircle, reference point for length and angle and reference point for width

2. Determine the width of the slotted hole using a second reference point.
3. Click on the Insert slotted hole tool.
4. Set the center of the first semicircle with a free click.
5. Click on the first reference point.
  -> This determines the length and angle of the slot.
6. Click on the second reference point.
  -> This determines the width of the slot.
7. In the Edit element docking window, you can now change the position of the freely selected point if required. The pivot point of the slot is the center of the second semicircle.
  -> Length, angle and width of the slot are changed.
